In other words, i want to see the dog, but the focus on the leaf keeps ripping my eyes away from it.. lol
Your eyes are drawn to the falling leaf because it's the primary subject of the picture. If I focused on the dog the leaf would be a brown blob and the shot would be essentially ruined. I would have preferred the leaf to be bright red or some other colour that would make it stand out from the background. But I took this picture yesterday so fresh leafs were not an option.

I really like this shot Travis! I just wish the falling leaf and the background were a bit diiferent in tone so that the leaf would stand out more...

Not to be too much of a stickler..but does this fit the theme?

I was putting away my Camera and stuff this morning and recalled this thread, so even though it was not really thought out I snapped a photo off, my contribution to the thread. This is in my Studio (Just on a Technicality issue it is in my house) behind my Laptop. Oh the Girl is not my photo unfortunately but there to inspire. The whole wall behind my desk is covered in photos I took and a few to inspire.

lol... this was taken in my back yard so I figured it was around the house... but I see from your question that the assignment is "Inside the House".... I will post a pic from inside

I agree with colour of the leaf matching background.... I suppose I could cut and paste a nicer leaf but this isn't really my thing.... the only editing I used on this pic is unsharp mask on the leaf to make it stand out a little more... it didn't look as crisp when viewed at 100%... most likely because the leaf was moving and I was on manual focus...

    Default glass items

i had a hard time finding a picture i thought was appropriate for this theme - to me, theres too many options for 'around the house'. but i ended up choosing this picture. its random and taken in my house. the glass beads are a window hanging thing, and the glass vase is something we picked up in mexico, in a glass blowing shop.

Very interesting photo, really like it, very well done. Looks very abstract.
