if it wasn't so fracking frustrating it would be funny. finally after 1 hour on hold got through to this person with a east indian accent so thick I couldn't make out what she was saying. and she kept interrupting me. Anyway, her view is that my version is pirated. I find this difficult as every single bit of packaging looks completely authentic, even to the incredibly small-impossible-to-read text on the sides.

anyway, managed to get it to work again when I deleted a cache file. contacted the seller and asked if they wanted the package back & refund my money, or just refund.

seriously, I do not need this right now. where's the curse icon???

    To Bambi.
First, congatulations on your new CS4.

I suspect it says you have the wrong serial # because you had a trial version installed before. It did the same here so I installed it on a different computer and there was no problem then.
If you get another solution, please PM me if you can. I would really appreciate it.

To EJC, Thanks a lot for the link to "photoanswers" This is a great source of info on Photoshop and I suspect even the experts endup learning something with these videos.

    Thank you again EJC.

Bambi, did you finally get your CS4 in operation ?
If not I would not worry about your program being a "pirate copy". Just try installing it on a different computer, the licence for this software allows you to actually install CS4 on two computers and uninstall it whenever you want from one computer so as to have the right to install it on another one.
In the mean time, if you find the way to install it on the computer on which you had a trial version installed before, I would really appreciate knowing how you did it.

    TIA.
    Clement

HI Zenon, according to Adobe the serial number is invalid. if it is a pirate it's very good as the box looks EXACTLY like the 'real versions'. As my daughter needs it for school we've installed it on a computer that does not access the internet. this is for 'now' while I work on getting my money back and get her the program . *sigh*

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I've often been a believer in the old addage that if it looks/sounds too good to be true then it probably isn't true. :(

Good luck on getting your money back!

Oh crap Bambi ... that's terrible. I hope Adobe comes through somehow. Maybe see if you have a local Adobe representative in your area. There may be a rep that visits the PC shops in town to sell the software who you can talk to and they may be able to have a physical look at what you bought.

thanks guys. Since it's through paypal I should be okay. I trust that I can resolve the issue. I've given the vender the chance to do the 'right thing' but if not then I will open a dispute and go from there.

well it seems that sometimes the little guy triumphs after all. I have been successful in getting my funds back via Paypal

Also, in my investigation and talking to Crystal, we found out that there were about 3-4 sellers of this product all within 7 kms of each other in NB. I alerted Ebay to this and they have removed all of the products.

Now, I have to decide whether to purchase it again. I think I will wait and my daughter needs it for school I will take her to buy the student version. Otherwise, it seems that I can meet my needs with LR, GIMP and Picasa.

phew. it's nice to win a battle
